(2) America couldn't send the Soviets a message about the atomic bomb because Stalin and his henchmen knew more about it than Truman did. (3) Harry Truman had no compunction nuking Japanese children because he was a barbarian.

The "lunatic" Ronald Reagan won the Cold War. America's military and economic hegemony won the Cold War. The bombs dropped on Japan were as much a method to end the war by the most expedient means we had as a message to the Soviet communists of America's resolve and ability to keep Western Europe democratic and capitalist, free, civilized. Harry Truman rightly had no compunction about nuking Japan. The preeminence of the European race depends entirely on America's military and economic hegemony.
