Remembering Lawrence King

15 year old Lawrence King was shot and killed by another eighth grader February 12, 2008. The motivation for the crime was because Lawrence was gay, and the shooting was deemed a hate crime. Young people need to be educated about how horrible hate crimes are, for any kind of discrimination, including race, religon and gender. Diversity should be embraced and not tolerated.

Why is it that you do not mention whites as an example of groups of people who are victims of hate crime? Are you suffering from the liberal white guilt illusion that hate crimes against whites is not so much of a problem as the other way around?

It doesn't matter what color his skin was, Lawrence King was murdered because he was gay. He could have been black or white. Blacks have faced their own civil rights battle, but still face discrimination today just as gay people do, just as women do, people of different religons, etc.

Im gay myself, and I cringed when I heard this news about Lawrence, BUT, he wasnt shot ONLY because he was gay. I read all the articles online. Lawrence sexualy harrased and threw his gayness on guys who clearly told him they didnt like it and wanted him to stop and one boy took the wrong path and shot him. I hold the shooter completely accountable but Lawrence wasnt as innocent as we might think.

Why was the kid touching his genitals and groping other kids, and why did he publicly proclaim his love for a boy who clearly was not gay!? No, you guys don't get a pass for this, yea the kid shouldn't have been shot, but he could have avoided it if he didn't harass straight boys.
