Before Nafta came to life, free trade was nonexistence and the USA was great. Manufacturing was moving as well as innovation. What type of innovation do you talk about?the one that a company makes and then send to China to the production line?WOW great.Education is a business that's a problem here, were a college degree to many is unreachable. College cost should have a price ceiling. Because is not a business that needs to compete is a service that must be offered to all Americans.

In the "ooh soo golden age". Back when everything was expensive you mean? Free trade IS better. And who do you think is making the most money: Those who invented and are now selling Ipods OR those who are producing it?

And you dont have to sell the idea about free (tax-paid that is) education to a Dane.

Profit maximization is a shareholder goal. Life improvement, social wellness, balance of power and a congress that responds to all not only to a few must be the USA goal. $ is not everything in life friend.Everybody end's up in a hole. And of course now things are 50 cents cheaper and 50% less quality. And a lot o people don't have a job to pay for those products at 50 cents less. Now the standard of living in the USA is lower.Middle class shrinking that's reality.

That might be the case but dont blame free trade for that. America wanted to sell their products to the world so they forced a lot of countries to open for American products. So dont close your borders because its now suddenly in your interest. Innovate and sell. Thats the key for a modern industrialized country.

We are one of the only countries with free trade. And sure isn't helping us. Shareholders and business exec who want to capitalize on $1 hr wages that exist in the rest of the world sure. It makes perfect sense then if you want to design it here build it in china , India etc and then ship it back....

You are not the only country with free trade... Dont even say it ´cause its not true. Do you bake your own bread? Slaughter your own lifestock? No... You go to someone who is better (and cheaper) and you do something yourself which you do better and cheaper than someone else. Thats why free trade works.

Well then nothing should be made here then buy your logic. because EVERYTHING CAN BE MADE CHEAPER IN SOME SECOND AND THIRD WORLD COUNTRY........sorry I its just not feasible for the american workforce to work for a dollar a day. And I'm talking about the people who want to trade with us they do not have free trade with us. you know china, india, japan, etc. Why should we shoot ourselves in the foot? Wouldnt you atleast agree that countries should reciprocate?

In Denmark we´re good at making windmills. We develop them better and cheaper (because a Chinese person would have to spend a lot of time/money learning what to do and how to do it). Just like if you want to learn how to make bread (though, on a smaller scale).

That being said they SHOULD reciprocate and China (among others) should stop the massive subsidies for certain industries. Importtaxes is not they way to go. WTO is supposed to deal with this sort of thing.
