  • Ora was a power house then and she thwe same way up until the day she die may 4th 2000 and i'm proud to say that i play the very last song she ever sang in church the sunday evening she's gone but not forgotten miss u much queenie

  • U aint lying, her voice is very uniquely..reminds me sort of Rosetta Tharpe

  • I Still Listen to this Just about everyday!! James was playing that Organ and Tina was SANGIN!!!!!!

    WONDERFUL!!!

  • I know the first time i found this record i played I went crazy!

  • I like Ora Lee Hopkins' voice...she has that clarion timbre like Cassietta George, whom I'm assuming was her replacement. I've listened to recordings of the original lineup trying to distinguish Elyse Yancey's voice...whom I'm assuming was a contralto as Ms. Walker was essentially a tenor. Both Ora Lee and Elyse seem to display vocal shadings of the great Clara Ward...but for the life of me I cannot figure out where Albertina got her style! She's just an Original talent!

  • I concur, Albertina made her sound on her own, and sung out the sincerity of her heart, that gave her, her own sound!

  • I remember listening to her soul stirring voice as a child. I just loved to hear her sing "I won't complain" among other songs. I miss the way she sang from her heart and I miss when the church celebrated her anniversary with many celebrities visiting. We were having CHURCH until late evening.
