Alistair created the EastWeb Fund as the only youth managed philanthropic fund in Australia. A sub-fund of the Melbourne Community Foundation, EastWeb is made up of a board of young people all under the age of 30 who are committed to working toward positive social change. Entirely volunteer driven, EastWeb initiates change through strategic grantmaking and providing resources to grassroots initiatives that build the capacity of Indigenous, asylum-seeker, and refugee communities in Australia. Over the past three years, the Fund has distributed 26 grants totaling $48,900. It also manages a SkillsBank providing in-kind support to groups working with Indigenous, asylum seeker and refugee communities. Philanthropy is not just for the wealthy, says Alistair, its for anyone with excess resources wealth, time, skills that can be reinvested in the community.
