How to run on Windows 7, by meman887
Well to get the game to even remotely run first, you'll need to install the patch.
Secondly you'll need to use Windows compatibility mode on SONICCD.EXE and the settings for that is:
Make sure the following boxes have been ticked:
Run this program in compatibility mode for and select from the dropdown box, Windows 95.
Run in 256 colors.
Run in 640x 480 screen resolution.
Disable visual themes.
Disable desktop composition.
Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.
Click apply and OK.
Additional instructions:
Bring up the task manager by CTRL+ALT+DELETE.
In the Processes tab, end explorer.exe.
Select file and then New Task (Run...).
Select SONICCD.EXE.
Main reason why you have to end explorer.exe you may ask?
explorer.exe in later versions of Windows (Vista/7 to name at least two) has a bad habit of messing up colours in older Windows games like these other examples:
Hopkins FBI, Broken Sword, Broken Sword II and a heap of others.
Also you should be able to run Sonic CD in full screen mode.
Alternatively you could always buy Sonic CD from Steam and then, you wouldn't need to do the above.

And again, thanks to meman887 for his windows 7 tutorial.
I have Windows 7 and the patch tells me it's not compatible. Is that the reason its not working?

@SoApBoX That is because the patch is made only for windows XP. Try looking for a windows 7 compatible patch.

@541SuperTails I really don't know what is happening with it. I'll try to figure it out.

@541SuperTails PM me with the PM's title "Sonic CD" and I can give you instructions on getting it to run.
@poodletteldoop You do know the game also runs under Vista and also 7, so you might want to get rid of "THIS IS ONLY FOR WINDOWS XP!" in the desc, since the same method is used, just requires a few alterations in regards to compatibility (applies to XP, Vista and 7).

@meman887 Oh really? Would you mind telling me what those alterations are?
