We were at the hospital, waiting. This was taking forever! The damn doctors wont give us any sort of update on Linley. Okay, sure, I wasnt as close as she was to Nick or Joe, but she was still my sister, and I felt responsible for her.
Nick and I were sitting down beside Braden, while Joe was pacing the waiting room, back and forth.
"First of all, who the hell would stab her?! He started, Next, who the hell would stab her at school?! We shouldve just home schooled her, damn it!"
"Joe, chill." Nick said with a dry, crackly voice.
"No, Nick! I wont chill!"
"Thats it!" I screamed. "Joe, sit down, and shut the hell up! You arent the only one whos worried here!"
Joe sighed, took a seat beside me, and Frankie ran into the room.
"Where is she?!"
"She's fine Frankie. I lied, The doctors are still figuring out what they need to do."
Mom and dad came into the waiting room, and sat down. Tears streamed down moms face. I looked over at the clock.
"What's taking them so long? Its been an hour!"
No one answered. After a few more silent minutes in the waiting room, the doctor came out.
"Finally." Brey whispered.
"Mr. and Mrs. Jonas?" She asked my parents. They nodded and she approached them.
Joe, Nick, Frankie, Brey and I stood up, and joined mom and dad.
"I'm Dr. Scarlette, and I treated your daughter this afternoon."
One thing about doctors. They either told you straight to the point, or they try to avoid the point.
"The knife didnt go to deep, so her organs are fine. The only danger was, it was stabbed too near her ribs. So hopefully only one or two will be broken. Shes getting her x-rays right now, and I will try to get her stable enough for you to see her."
A few more hours passed by, and Frankie was falling asleep. He denied it, but he was yawning every 10 seconds.
"No!"
"Frankie, you need to go home. Its late."
"No! Im going to be here when she wakes up!"
I sighed. There was no convincing this kid.
"Frankie, I promise that shes going to be fine. But you need to go home with mom and dad. She wouldnt want to be keeping you up."
He looked down at his feet.
"Fine."
I smiled at my victory, and ruffled his hair.
"But Kev, tell her I'll see her tomorrow."
"Okay."
"I will see her tomorrow, right?"
"Yes Frank. You will."
"Kay, and tell her I love her."
"I'll do that. Bye Frankie."
"Bye Kevin."
He gave smile good bye, and ran after mom and dad down the hallway. Braden groaned as Joe started his victory dance. Nick scratched his head and threw his hand of cards to the empty seat beside him.
"Joe, you cheated. Again." said Nick.
"Did not."
"Then what do you call that card thats falling out of your sleeve?"
"What? A card cant accidentally fall into my sleeve? When youre surrounded by cards, theres more of a possibility that it could happen Nick."
I rolled my eyes, and tried to get back to my nap.
"Joe," Nick started, "how can a card fall into your sleeve?"
"How does rain fall out of the sky? Questions we may never answer."
"Didn't you study the water cycle in the 2nd grade?"
"Um, excuse me." spoke a womans voice from down the hall.
