By fall or even late winter when this doe was shot, the fawns are self-sufficient. It takes a little less than a few months before they are able to sustain themselves. The female fawns stay with the other females in the heard even though they don't need their mothers to survive any more. The male fawns are kicked out of the female group very early on and must rely on nothing more than instincts to survive. It isn't "messed up" as you say.

How do you get the G5, are they sold anywhere?

You can find most of our products at any local Archery Pro Shop. All of the big stores, Cabela's, Bass Pro, Scheels, Gander Mountain, sell our entire line.
