Alberta's Pet Food Industry Overview

The University of Alberta's Faculty of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences has developed a "Companion and Performance Animal" major under their Animal Health program. Within this program, students will obtain the knowledge required to gain employment in pharmaceutical and nutriceutical industries, companion animal feed and supply industries and other related fields.




In support of the program and Alberta's pet food industry, ARD staff have been working with the University of Alberta to develop the "Pet Industry Action Learning Program." The objective of this program is to link third and fourth year students with Alberta's pet food industry.

As part of this project, two students under the Capstone course have been developing a series of you-tube videos that will be launched on Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development's you-tube channel. The key message will be focused on Alberta manufactures' high quality, nutritious pet food/treats. Alberta pet food/treat manufacturers' products or companies will be show cased in these videos.
