@ochoa001 They were trying to recreate the musical in a modern setting. Example, the Jungle of Nool is a concrete jungle, and all the costumes look more like modern clothing while still managing to look like the animals they are. It's a modernized version of a children's book brought to life. Besides, you're not suppose to focus squarely on the costumes and set. What matters is the acting and singing, which they have and performed very well.

Where are the costumes? It's too simple. Seussical is colorful and it's supposed to look fun and exciting! That just looks boring and depressing..
