This one actually shows you a bit of how it works... It tracks your face (which is an improvement on the very basic motion capture in most of the games in Play) and extrapolates your arms as long as you stay in the right position. Many people try to take an actual skating stance, which makes your arms not work in the game... Stand the way the game shows you, and you'll be fine...

  • That's Sonic Riders!

  • @Kelvin4335 Huh? Are you responding to someone? What's sonic riders? Not the game in the video, that's for sure. This is Antigrav.

  • I can't believe someone linked to my Video on Kotaku. Pretty cool. Too bad I was banned for saying Tim Rogers articles are Tl;dr (hire an editor, or AT LEAST get your friends to help you be more concise)

    Amazingly petty.

  • I'm tired of arguing with you... If you don't see that taking the Eyetoy concept, and buying out the company that improved on a webcam isn't all that impressive, then you're a complete MS fanboy. Natal IS an evolution of Eyetoy. The face and gesture recognition is from eyetoy, all the other stuff is just an evolution of that, and this "completely different" nonsense is really absurd.

    Have a nice day.

  • But you can do it with the wand, though. The wand essentially becomes the second camera, and WITHOUT the need for an expensive IR camera. It achieves it by having something very simple (a ball on the end of a stick) as a reference point. If the ball is further away, it will look smaller to the camera. Ditto for the reverse of that.

Everything else about Natal they made a big deal about is all about software, not hardware, and that includes things like face recognition. No need for 3d for that.

  • If I knew about this game back in its time, I TOTALLY would have gotten an eye toy.

  • Damn, this game is a heck of a lot more awesome than I remember, haha.

I ought to break it out sometime and try to get my Eyetoy to work for once.

  • @1crazyboy7

Seriously dude. Listen to them. don't go placing all your chips on Msoft just yet. They have not made anything new or revolutionary here. They have merely taken Sonys idea as their own and legally justified it by adding a depth camera to their setup. The software its identical to Eyetoys and the implementations are as well.

Don't go backing up a company that used money to force itself into the gaming market only to fuck things up hardcore for game devs.

  • @1crazyboy7 you need a $5,000 mo-cap suit with even more expensive software, and multiple cameras to have true full body motion.

  • @RandomDirectors

Yeah, and you can't play third of first person shooter games on Natal...

  • @1crazyboy7

Don't be hypocrite, the point is that for both EyeToy and Natal you don't need controller...

  • your really good,

i always ran into walls with the demo

    that came with my eyetoy.
