by Mike Watters through professor Rev. Dr. James Kenneth Powell II, opensourcebuddhism.org Well, where to start! This is a compendious 41 min detailed study of the intriguing interactions among Greeks, Indian and Buddhism as a major conduit of communication. I learned a lot in this. I had associated the Skeptics and Stoics with possible Buddhist connections, but not the Cynics. Diogenes is certainly a Buddhist man in the West. The contrast between his view and Socrates/Plato was well stated. He is certainly more in agreement with the Buddha than the others. Watters chronicle of the origins and development of the Alexandrian then Ashokan civilizations was concise yet replete with sufficient details. The travels of the 2 Greek Dharmaraksitas was in particular fascinating. I hadnt heard of this man! Taking Greek Buddhist to Sri Lanka, so far away amazing! The King Menander segments really push home Buddhisms taking root in central Asia and the philosopher Nagasenas argument was a pivotal moment in history. Super job transitions, panningfar more than I requested - one of if not the very best ever.

  • Thank you very much for these 4 videos!

Greco-Buddhism is a great section of European and Asian history which still remains unknown for most people!

  • friends plz re-think on the treasure found at padmanabhan swamy temple in india as the greek coins and ornaments shown and buddhism is tried to destroy from its own country

  • I have watched all parts and i liked the end phrase nether eastern nor western but deeply human

  • I saw another fantastic claim by the whites. Just because a piece of fine fabric was found with a dead white man somewhere in china, they claim that whites taught the chinese the art of silk weaving etc. They just can't see the possibility of multitude of chinese in china inventing the art of weaving themselves. Amazingly that man taught and popularize silk veaving over night all over china.

  • Buddhism came to the bactarian greeks and therefore it can be safely assumed that they were influenced. But it is whiteman's ego at work to say the buddhism was influenced by greeks when not even a handful of greeks where anywhere near india where buddhism was born and developed. White man's ego is beyond belief.

  • "Neither Western nor Eastern but deeply human" what a wonderful way to end this video series, in truth we are all connected, hopefully humanity will begin to remember this reality.
