Jimpsterz is correct. Grab a telescope and get a good look at it before it's gone. Venus is just brighter this time simply because more of it's surface reflection of the Sun's rays are visible to us. Think of the Moons phases. At times we see more of the reflected rays from the moon etc.etc. Same thing with Venus this time around. I suppose the news and what not felt it wasn't important to announce, unless they did and I missed it.

i noticed the bright star last year, its getting bigger, its venus comeing closer to the earth it will start getting smaller next year. the way the planets move is around is not in a circle , sometime planets are closer to earth ,

the bright object is where the light is reflected of the sun, like the moon, its just that venus is close to earth at the moment in the planetary cycle,

i live in new zealand and i see it every night!!!!! i work night shift so i always get to have a look.

Everyone out there I am still tracking this. Almost every night. I have been looking up at the sky for all my life. I am an old dude and I have NEVER NEVER NEVER seen this before! It is not a star and it is not a planet. It is always SW to SE depending on the time of night. I travel all over the country and I can see it every where. (duh) I have looked at it with basic Binocs and it slightly helps. Someone out there with a good telescope and filter(its bright) get some more info on this.

@hophoopine nvm i wasnt censored lol. i was on the wrong video. the fucked up thing i have with this is. wtf...its 2011 and according to the answers u were given, venus was supposed to be dimming by now. it hasnt changed in brightness for over 5 months and its almost 2012. my comment wasnt censored but still...wacky things are afoot lol
