From the great 60's TV series Nightcap. The forerunner to SNL and Laugh In. The regulars were Billy Van, Bonnie Brooks, June Sampson, Vanda King, Al Hamel & the Guido Basso Band
@Landrew0 Obscurity isn't necessarily a sad story. Who knows what his life was like? Maybe he was happy in his obscurity. After all, I'm a very obscure guy, and I'm pretty happy!
I mainly remember Al Hamel as host of "The Anniversary Game" back in 1969. I didn't know he also sang...or at least tried to. I wonder if any old film footage from that program exists.
He went from being described as the most talented performer this country has produced" to "frequent guest," to "minor game show regular," to "infrequent guest" to relative obscurity. Maybe he was too far ahead of his time.

Al was so cute and I can remember him in Razzel Dazzel with Michelle Finney. Wish I could find it.
