J. White Gunsmithing test firing the 600 nitro. This is a Ruger #1 that has been extensively modified to chamber the massive 600 NE cartridge firing a factory loaded 900 grain jacketed soft point. The rifle is mounted in a Miller Shooting Machine that is designed to absorb recoil by two shock absorbers mounted to a carriage that travels back and forth on the base. The rifle also has mercury recoil suppression system in the butt stock and a Limbsaver recoil pad. Note that the 7/8" hardwood dowel and laminated endcaps are broken like a tooth pick and the 5/16" threaded rods that adjust for the buttplate stop are bowed out from the force. Even though the rifle will handle this pressure it is not advised by J. White Gunsmithing that anyone shoulder fire this rifle.
