Communities in Ecuador's Bolivar province gather mushrooms to sell to a local drying factory. USAID's Productive Network project, managed by CARANA Corporation, worked with these small suppliers on better harvesting and handling techniques to boost quality of the raw material for higher prices. The project also helped the factory streamline its drying processes and try out new flavor combinations for export to regional and overseas markets, increasing demand for raw mushrooms and leading to employment of over 2,000 people.
