Kevin Rudd says sorry to the Aboriginal people on Feb 13th 2008. This is most of the speech with some images showing the past and what happened on that day.

I think you should actually meet a few Aboriginal people.

Of course there are some that are bad. But there are many more white people who are even worse. I think you should get an education and then you could actually make a meaningful comment

Why do you think Aboriginal people started to abuse drugs? Why do you think it's difficult for them to hold down a job? If you actually understood what happened in the past you would realise that it was white Australians that destroyed their culture. They have been left unable to fit into a traditional Aborginal lifestyle because we as Australians tried to westernise them and they have been left unable to assimilate into our culture because people like you are racist.

  • He's not taking the blame, and he's not say that anyone in that room is responsible for what happened, his apology is more an acceptance that what happened was wrong, and he's saying they acknowlege what happened was wrong, and the government doesn't stand by it.

And even though he didn't do it, he's being the 'bigger man' and not leaving it upto someone else, he's taking innitiative to make the situation better, by resolving it, because no one would do it for so long

  • Anyone can apologise to a group of people for two centuries of hurt and oppression, but it'll take alot more than that for people to come to trust the govt.

  • The legal fraternity must be crying their eyes out . It didn't work out as you expected you dumb fucks . You expected the stolen generation lie to be a cash cow and it came to nothing . Bad luck .

  • why would you say sorry for something you never did?

  • @presidentelliot that is a terrible shame. I was thinking are Aboriginals being treated better?

  • @presidentelliot It has only made the Coons more arrogant!

  • Rather ironic that while Kev was giving this speech, a baby had to be rescued from the "aboriginal tent embassy" by welfare officers from the squalid, filthy conditions it was living in with its father ( the mother was in jail). "Stolen generation" was dreamed up by some greedy Lawyers methinks.

  • @x69Crunchyx lol, it's probably not. But my reasoning behind it, is that it alienates and puts all Australian's into the same basket. Against Aboriginals. Why do Australian's need to apologize for something done by the British ancestors. When a good 40% of us arrived later on or from a completely different nation. European Australian's back then the majority were convicts. The others were ACTING on behalf of BRITAIN. If you're going to apologize do it when it happens, have the perpetrators do it

  • @ActuallyLiam lol. This comment was the worst thing you did (AFAIK)
