The closing title music for this version has a very Jerry Goldsmith, "Man from UNCLE"-ish sound. It was never used in any of the production episodes.

This is the original closing (and end credits) for the unaired version of the second pilot episode, submitted to NBC in February 1966. This sold "STAR TREK" to the network; however, Roddenberry decided to use a modified version of Alexander Courage's original theme (used in the original version of pilot #1, "The Cage") for the series, and the titles were refilmed to reflect that change...
