SJSU President Jon Whitmore

This was the feature story on Update News' first show of the semester. On August 1st 2008, former Texas Tech President became President to San Jose State University.

Whitmore is very impressed with the diversity of the University and hopes to use it to the institution's advantage in the upcoming school year.

Some of his goals include to raise graduation and retention rates, bettering the city's involvement with the university, and to take advantage of the technology available in the Silicon Valley to make SJSU a more environmentally friendly campus.
