Long John Baldry with this almost spiritual and touching song. He's the inventor of the (blues-based) start of popmusic in Great Brittain and influenced, worked with or was discoverer of several artists such as Rod Stewart, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Keith Richard, etc. A voice never to forget but also an icon of popmusic!

  • Even though this is a Faces' song, I've always liked his version best.

  • It was Long John who invited Rod Steward to play with his band years ago. Rod was actually playing as a street musician in the subway areas, far of being a professional musician. I'm therefore not sure if this is from the faces....

  • I'm looking at the songwriting credits on Baldry's album "It Ain't Easy" and it credits Lane/Stewart/Wood with the song. I found your video after watching a Faces' video of the same song.I don't know if you ever had the chance to listen to the album, but it's a classic. The cd re-release has a bunch of bonus tracks, that were not on the original vinyl.

  • Sorry, can't help you with that but I'm sure it's worth to attend on such collectors items

  • Epic music, dude!

  • It is indeed, I'm hooked on this song since I've converted this for upload. Big hearted type also thisLong John which suits me very well, with an unforgettable voice. Enjoy the file(s) and all the best, Aart.

  • After Genya Ravan, this is primo!

  • I saw Long John in Hollywood at the Whiskey. Totally amazing. He died July 22nd, same day as my friend David Corona. I lived in England, and on the plane home back to California. This was the song in my head. I adored Long John. May he rest in peace.........he was beautiful.

  • @jerichomyles Does your friend know who the piano player is?

  • Wow --- So fortunate John decided to settle in Vancouver all those years ago - got to see him and Kathi locally fairly often . A true LEGEND> His bands featured a who's who of western Canadian musicians.

  • 9001st view.

  • Yeah Rod, Ronnie, and Kenny may have written this, BUT, Long John and his FAB band owned it, hell yeah! Thanks Geepereet, You Tube, and God Almighty for allowing this presentation of a LEGEND at Work! R.I.P. Long John Baldry, OMG this is both fabulous and wonderful!
