Ha-ha! I did it! I have defeated the government (and saved this beautiful TV set from destruction)!

Many people don't know this, but if you have one of those cable-TV-to-antenna-tv adapter things, you CAN get digital TV on an old knob-style TV set. No need to throw out a perfectly good TV set that will outlive the cheaply-made rubbish TV sets today! They probably don't make these adapters anymore, as nobody except white-trash like me still uses an antenna TV set. lol I found a couple of these in my basement, you can probably find them on eBay for a few bucks.

...and of course, what better to show on a 1960's TV, than a 1960's TV program? lol

I still think that just like Cash For Clunkers, the DTV transition was just a scheme to boost the economy. They forced you to require a converter box in every room of your house. (but not an antenna. No need for an antenna in each room as well. I used splitters and extra co-ax cable and spit the signal from the antenna on top of our entertainment center to the TV in our basement, and in our bedrooms. Just keep daisy-chaining splitters together along with running co-ax cable through the floors/ceilings, and it will work.)

Thanks! I'm going to be purchasing one of these sets, so I wanted to make sure it was in color before I did.

    Thanks again.

Oh wow! You found another one of these particular model Zeniths? I thought I had the only one left! lmao

If you search youtube for a video with the title "Garbage-Picked TV Sets" made by myself and uploaded on October 25, 2010...you can see this same TV set, fresh out of the dumpster. It has very good color in my opinion, considering it's 40+ years old!

  • Is this tv actually a color set?

  • @TundraWalk3r

Yes. When it can get a strong signal, it is in color. If it has a weak signal, or whatever happens, it goes into black and white mode and stays that way until I jiggle or rotate the antenna.

Yes I did! Hopefully the guy who has it will reply to me E-Mail. I will check out that video, and when/if i get this other set, I will make a video of it!

This set I believe is actually from around 1979 or 80. But still, nothing beats a Zenith!!!

    Regards,

    Matt
