fire is natural. the only reason we have so much fuel build up is because of keeping fire out. thinning also helps but when you have so much bad blood between the owl people and the loggers stuff tends to pile up. we need to reform our forest practices and attitudes twards fire if we are going to learn how to live with it and use it as a tool in forest management.

It is "healthy" to reseed the "same" pine tree type through the country and expect a "bio-diversity?" After "clear-cutting" that is... Harvested by "caring and loving" logging corporations with blessings from the top to ravage and destroy public property. Owned by public...

And than come "natural" fires that destroy this monoculture practice...

So "natural," isn't it?..

how come when there is forest fires it is usaully located in a pine tree forest? do pine trees have a flammable resin or something?

@Lulitus13 I don't mean to rude or invasive but I had to comment on what you said about a god seeing all this terror...isn't your god supposed to be responsible for everything that happens on this planet, except for the bad that men do (because that's usually a combination of the devil and free will)? I thought god knows all that was, is and will ever be....if so why then does he in your words let this kind of "terror" happen. Some fires are natural others are caused...get over the god thing!

@nomader88 Actually the average national IQ would decrease by 30 points if California was eliminated. I can think of countless other states that removing WOULD bring the average IQ up by though.

@tarhun i realy dont want my town(bordered by pine forests all the way around) to be burned to a crisp or lose my house. also, in oregon, we have a "let burn" law that says if a fire is burning in a wilderness area, you dont supress it untill it treatens private lands, historical sites or nat.l forest.
