@187murder1000 i agree. i was blessed to be able to watch the dr as a teenager back in the late 70s early 80s. he did things players today can't do, not blake griffin, lebron or d wade. nobody was smoother or cooler on the court than the good dr.

if there was anybody who could challenge jordans will it would be dr.j he could do all things on the court had no weaknesses had ungodly hops too if he was still playing today he would probaly be the best player out there

best Dr.J mix tape. the end

Jordan is the greatest player of his era and still the greatest player today but I will NEVER EVER say he is the best player to ever play. You can't say that without saying Dr J. Sure Jordan has the awards but as far as game play I still believe Dr J is better. Jordan can destroy anybody on the court but so could Dr. J. Jordan was exciting but Dr. J played with Style if you watch him play it was almost like had a 70s song playing in his head while he was playing.

@Bonswally That's the standard that can be equaled but NEVER surpassed. Style & finesse, Good point chief.

@Bonswally cant exactly compare between eras though, i personally prefer Dr J, you may not but i do

nice video, love it :) can you tell me the name of the song?

For sure, but there is something about Afro Dr. J with funk music playing, flying in the air with his hair flowing through the air, grainy film-like footage, in those converses and skimpy uniform that is just awesome and unmatched.

The ABA had some serious talent with the Doctor, Artis Gilmore, David Thompson, George Gervin, Alex English, George McGinnis. Who won the '72 All-Star game between the ABA and NBA>
Dr. J embodied grace and style on and off the court. He invented the 'posterization'! I am an NBA fan because of him, I still have news clippings and magazines from the 70s and 80s. I think the reason I am such a Kobe fan is because he has that refined game that makes the most routine jumpshot or layup a thing of beauty. Jordan with all his athleticism had more of 'nasty' game. The players I always liked the most were smooth: Kareem, Gervin, Olajuwon, English, Magic, The Doc and KB.

@goyknlig65 also, James Worthy was as smooth as they come, Drexler possibly maximum smoothness.
???? Jordan was renowned for his graceful style of play, his attitude was relentless, but nasty? Never.
Jordan was much more simple and compact than the Doctor, and the other forementioned players, but he was as graceful and smooth as any of them. The Doctor's ability was phenomenal. but it was his long limbs and unorthodox style that made him probably the most spectacular player of all time.

@chief662 I'm afraid Michael Jordan equaled and surpassed him a long time ago. In numbers, championships and accolades, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time. They both changed the game, Jordan even effectively changed the rules (hand check rule was ammended after he retired to encourage Jordan-like perimeter scoring). Jordan is the best there ever was, but I have to give the Doctor the vote on style, finesse and general awesomeness. They would both enjoy todays nba.
