  • in fact, the people who work in the call centers over in India, Burma, etc., are usually highly educated, far more educated than their US counterparts. Of course the companies could spend more on these call centers, but then the goods would cost more. You think Castro has call centers for people to complain about the crap goods and services that his government gives the Cuban people?

  • Again, without capitalism, the people can work in the fields as they have for thousands of years. With capitalism, they can choose to work in a factory in a city. Countless people chose options 2. If they did not prefer the option, they would not chose it. Under any definition, capitalism has increased people's choices.

  • The reason corporations export "customer service" is because hey can pay less in India. It is Not based on quality. Sometimes those people don't know English, or lack the knowledge..Because not the quality is essential but the cost..They don't want to spend money on training them, just let them know the minimum..

  • It is not in the interest of Corporations to give people more money. If the factories would pay people decent money, and had decent conditions, they would still want to work in them. But the people there have no choice.. Read the reports about labour conditions in China, Pakistan etc. and ask yourself what kind of a choice they have..

  • When I call a customer service dept, I always hope to hear an Indian accent. They are smart and capable, unlike the fat ladies from the American south who are the other option.

  • wrong. If the workers were not better off, then they would not continue to work in the factory. I know its hard for a Marxist to understand, but it is possible for both parties to gain from an exchange of goods and/or labor.

  • of course they have a choice. They can continue to work the fields as the have for generations (including any child old enough to walk), or they can take a job in a factory. Communists have no choices.

  • The only one who benefit, are corporations. They could sell their product allot cheeper and make them better quality ,and pay the workers decent money..but that would mean making less money..Thats why the final product is made from cheep materials, is overpriced, and the people work in horrible conditions for 14 cents/day. The corporations don't care about quality..Call the custom service of any corporation and you will find out the guy is in Pakistan, India, and he speaks little English..

  • The workers (very often kids) are forced (because of the circumstances) to work i labourcamp like factories. The production cost is so low that it is cheaper than the cost of raw materials. There is no "choice"! It's like saying that Palestynians have a choise of living in horrible conditions, fearing death etc. or leave their country, or "either you suck my d..k or i will shoot you". Those are not "choices". Because they force you to do things you would normaly not do!

  • Everything you said is a good thing. Workers in the poor countries can continue to live as they have for generations, or they can take a low paying job in the city. Countless millions choose option 2. This is good for them, and good for people who can now buy the cheaper goods. Of course corporations (or anybody) sells goods for more than they cost to produce - its called profit! Why else do the work?
