I love how newport's comment was "Lmao are you stupid?" immediately followed by "They ARE BREAD DOWN - " Bread . . . bred . . . he he he. That was funny. Oh, and I didn't realize they were still being breeding IGs down from greyhounds. Wow, the things you learn, lol. :]

Maybe you should have some manners and learn to not correct people, it's rude. I'm defending myself.

Apparently you don't either, I've read books on them... I have 3 itallian greyhounds.. Plus I bread them once. The information I gave you was directly from the book. But the IG can be seen in illuminated manuscripts and in master painters such as Blake, Carpaccio, Van Dyck, Teniers and Ward. According to current theory this breed is around 2000 years old. Most authorities believe the breed was dwarfed for pet purposes from a Greyhound of long ago.

This it is not accepted fact that Italian Greyhounds were produced by selective breeding of Greyhounds for size. Far from it in fact. Italian Greyhounds are quite a separate breed from Greyhounds, and it is believed they date back some 6000 years.
They obviously do share common traits with the other sight hounds, but could quite as easily be derived from cross breeding of an early sight hound, in much the same way that the Greyhound originally came into existence.
I watch this from time to time and laugh just as hard as the first time I saw it when I get to the ricoche take-off sound - that sums up an IG!
