I felt so sorry for Lionel here. Sure, he forced Lana to marry Lex but he did it to protect Clark. And then he goes to save her and get her back for Clark. And then he's too late to save her!!!!!. And you could see the look in his eyes that he really feels bad and hurt about it.

I love this scene so much, you can see every single thought and notion as it happens in his head the whole way through, he only SAYS about 10% of the dialogue that happens here. Everything else is pure bodily expression, freakin marvelous acting on both of their parts.

I know! Lionel is a perfect example of someone who really can change. He was still manipulative, yes, but it was to protect Clark all the time. I have something further to say about that, but I don't want to give anything away if you haven't seen season 7 yet.
