Amtrak Shuttle Train No. 401 in Hartford

400 Series Shuttle No. 401 blasts by Hartford's Oakwood Ave. crossing under the power of Genesis P42DC No. 107. This train originated as a shuttle from Springfield, MA to New Haven, CT, to connect in New Haven with mainline traffic. The route includes stops in Windsor Locks, CT, Windsor, Hartford, Berlin, Meriden, Wallingford, and finally New Haven.
Here, we see 401 about 3 miles south of Hartford's Union Station, 10 minutes late. Apologies for film quality-haven't filmed trains in a while.

I can hardly wait for Amtrak to modernize this part of the system (New Haven to Springfield) by eliminating grade crossings and by electrifying the route. Then we will really have arrived in the 21st century. Thanks for the video.
