When the 173rd abrn commpleted the only battalion parachute drop in south vietnam US involvment there were villagers that thought the french had returned. Not All Veitnamesse hated the americans or the french many veitnamesse that were educated in france had dual citizenship in fact.

thank you for this film its hard to find much on the french experiance in indo china. street without joy, ans hell in a verry small place the only two books iv read on the subject. The French had fewer troops in all of vietnam, cambodia loas that the us later had in just south vietnam. there is a storie I heard about french legionares staying behind with the hmong and last radio singnal from them in 56 or 57 asking for airdrop of more ammo. havn't been able to find anything else about it.

@RafalsCom No big deal. Thanks for uploading this. Really gives a person a good feel of jungle warfare & the hardships that go along with it.

@sass225 "La 317e section" is a French-Spanish film first released in 1965. It has also been released under the title: "317th Platoon". To make the film authentic, Schoendoerffer made it entirely on location in Cambodia with its actors and crew living and working under same extreme conditions. It was awarded the prize for best screenplay at Cannes Film Festival in 1965. Definitively, Viet Minh, then VietCong did not treat allies of France, or later US, with genteelness... like all reds.
