@dankmathus Emo is still generally disliked by most people, it's just that nowadays a lot of hipsters want to give 90's emo some indie cred and call it the "true emo" and disregard everything else. It's a lot like saying "Hey I love pizza! I only like the crusts though, the cheese and tomato sauce are too mainstream!" Fair enough if you only like the crusts, but please don't go around calling it "the true pizza".

just call it emo/skramz or whatever. all these videos are filled with comments arguing about emo. back in the 90's emo was generally disliked by 90% of the hardcore scene, it's not like it was a huge awesome thing everyone loved..

I'm pretty sure none of you would even know these bands if it weren't for Third Wave "mainstream" emo. Just because you all want to be "original" hipsters now, please don't act like everything you say is anything more than your own opinion. I love all three waves and to me none of them are the "true" emo, just different stages in the genre's evolution. There's a reason why some bands were mainstream, oh yeah, maybe because they were good? I'm off to listen to MCR and TITR now, fuck off hipsters.

People are still namedropping obscure screamo and calling it "the real emo" go back to fourfa (if it even exists anymore) anyone who was listening to this at the time remembers it as emo, and the only reason anyone distances themselves from the term is that so called "third wave" commercial garbage became the go to rock music of the 00's
