In today's episode I look at "Apidya" a horizontal shoot-em-up on the Commodore Amiga.

This game is, in my humble opinion, one of the best H-Shmups ever! It ages very well and is as much fun as it was back then - perhaps even more so as emulation allows us to use great gamepads, redfine buttons to your liking and savestates.

  • Great music, great graphics, but shooting insects didn't look like an inventive idea to me.

  • @amigalemming The thing is, the techno-level has a much more original level design but because there are no insects it somewhat feels less original. I think the idea is awesome for it's time. Looking at it today, there have more exotic settings been used in shmups.

  • Evil threatens! I'd better turn into a bee!

Great review of a great game. I only wish I wasn't so rubbish at shooters so I could get further.

  • @JimPlaysGames You know, I really suck at them. That's why in this video the bee is flashing half of the time. ;-) Still it's so much fun and the pride you feel once you manage a level without cheating is just awesome.
