This is the Wurlitzer 207a Instructors console with the keynote visualizer. It's basically a wurlitzer 200a with a bunch of extra features. It was designed so that up to 6 student wurlitzers could be hooked into one master keyboard. With the switches on the front and a headset the teacher could listen and speak to individual students while they all play at the same time. The keynote visualizer shows what keys you press on the staff and keyboard. You can control if it shows sharps or flats, staff or keyboard all from the Wurlitzer.

From left to right the controls are...
-4 small buttons to control the keynote visualizer.
-3 knobs - on off/ volume, mike volume, 3 way speaker select.
-5 black buttons labled group A-D one labeled call
-6 white buttons piano 1-6 (student pianos)
-4 glowing switches ensemble switches (not sure of use)
-4 switches at the end labeled audio aids (not sure, some kind of input)

*I can't test 70% of the controls on the front without a student wurli hooked up. I just use the 3 knobs for regular playing.

I'm unsure of the date this piano was made but I believe it would be late 60's early 70's. You'll notice middle C doesn't work on the display. Mics used were an Audio Technica AT4040 condenser on the Wurlitzer Cabinet and later on a Shure sm57 on the Princeton amp. No eq or compression was used.

  • I have this but it is missing the connector cable to make the Visualizer work. Can you tell me what it looks like?

  • @vancleef7 Yeah I can take a picture for you. Send me a pm with your email address

  • does this piano break down for moving?

  • @mrthomaskt No it's a pain to move. Some people chop them into separate pieces keyboard and cabinet.

  • Yes the visualizers are pretty rare, I did see one once on ebay though. So you might be able to find one. Mine was sold with the piano. Thanks for watching.

  • @Dr0id1

Can you tell me, what tunes no. 2 and 3 were (I can't recognize, and quite like those)? I really enjoyed your playing btw. You should upload some uncut takes!

  • Wonderful - I want one! By the way, does the Visualizer light up when you play the top octave of the piano? And at 1:00, is that a variation on "The Windmills of your Mind"?

    Thanks for this post!

  • Wow you have a nice Wurlitzer !

This model has always intrigues me. There are so much controls, sliders and knobs... And the Key Note Visualiser ... wow... I didn't know that ! I realised that my Wurlitzer (model 214) was made to be played with one also. Wonder where you find these things nowadays. Must be rare.
