In my opinion this is the finest American animated film ever made. Saw for the first time as a young kid and it absolutely blew my mind. It's still as powerful many years later.

I'll always love Bakshi's work, even Cool World, I really wish that he would come out with something new in this world of digital animation and CG and many with such flat plots sugarcoating the realities of our world.

I like how Pete demonstrates the strengths/hopes of his predecessors (Zalmie's singing/Benny's piano playing & harmonica/Tony's song writing) plus his own unique skill with the guitar; almost as if the previous generations succeeded in their own small way in the end.
