2:40 - i just scale vertices down to zero. its faster than finding that planar button.

@Austraman Yeah, I'm using a script that doing it for me. I think autodesk should add gradient background feature into colour scheme set up it's pretty cool thing.

Yeah, I was looking through out the internet and can't find any info on how to enable gradient viewport in 3ds max 2012, but I see it a lot of times in Autodesk's videos. How to enable this feature????? I mean there's scripts for that outhere, but I don't think they use scripts (at least they would say taht like in case with Outliner)
