Introductions and Overview to a Senate Briefing on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome that took place on May 8, 2008. It was sponsored by The CFIDS Association of America, with assistance from Senator Tom Harkin and Senator Arlen Specter.
Kim McCleary, President and CEO of The CFIDS Association, served as moderator of the event, which included presentations by Dr. Anthony Komaroff, MD; Dr. Lucinda Bateman, MD; and Mr. Scott Simon, of NPR.
I'll be the first to comment on my series. First of all, I apologize for the poor sound quality; I was using a tiny HD video recorder from the back of the room. I had to try to remain standing, which I'm sure you can imagine is quite difficult with CFS. The Capitol building is like a fortress, so I kind of had to sneak my camera in. Finally, the briefing was around noon, and there was a lot of noisy foot traffic outside the room. I'm a rookie at this, but I'm learning as I go. Just like CFS...
