THE GREAT DORSET STEAM FAIR - HEAVY HAULAGE ON THE ROAD AND IN THE "PLAYPEN"

Reputedly the largest outdoor show in the world, the Great Dorset Steam Fair is an extraordinary annual event attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors. From the might of the heavy haulage to the serenity and majesty of the heavy horses, the fair has something for everyone. In this programme we focus on the preparation and arrival of the main steam engine exhibits as they make their way slowly but surely to the fair site. Then it's off to the showground affectionately known as the "Playpen" where dedicated enthusiast put titans of steam from a bygone era through their paces.
