If you want to try this, but dont want to get strikes on your car, you can pause it right before you get caught and the game saves and turn off the power. It has saved my car sooooo many times!

whenever i get in a chase as bad as they get, sometimes, the best thing to do is hide, find a park or an ally or hide behind something. it works

Hey if someone wants some challenge with this game after beating Darius do my special mission in Career mode with Heat 5. If you play with PC DONT USE CODES! (Start pursuit in free roam with heat 5)
Try to run away more than 30minutes
Get over 200cop cars involved
KO over 100 police cars.
I have done this with PS2 and its possible. If you get hit by spikes you have failed this mission. Try it its really good practice.

physics is not much that important when this game was release... lol go play crysis if your such a physics fan XD
