I have seen injured beginners who didn't want to cooperate and other beginner was applying techniques. Injured wrist and shoulder are the most common ones.

We train in combination, we learn kata. But this is only for getting started. Then you have to learn waza (i.e. live aikido) which is just simple freestyle if we compare it to dance, for example. And there is no limits and combination.

Don't cooperate and let ALL your or my weight to be applied on your wrist or elboy, good luck with that.

I don't say that Aikido isn't good or doesn't work. I should have chosen my words better, but the way we train it in the dojo's nowadays makes it very hard. We train in combinations, but when the opponent on the street reacts otherwise, many of us will not know how to react. So we must stop training in combinations and start to train otherwise. Uke must not coorperate and try to avoid being controlled by tori, so tori must find out new methods and ways of thinking.

@Destiko You have to admit, that 15 years of age is not enough to allow oneself make judgements on aikido. Ikkyo level 3rd year esecially. Takemusu aiki suggests that you will be able to combine and freely use moves on 5th year of training (1st or 2nd dan), and that training suppose everyday practice...

From my limited "on street" experience some short form of irimi nage on unsuspecting attacker can be effective enough ) At least its much easier than kote gaeshi or koshi nage.

And, the most important thing. Nowadays it is better to injure other one as less as possible.. because, in court of law, they will compare you, black belt with 10y background in aikido with this usual guy who doesn't have a clue about martial arts. I will be the one who will be crucified. Even if there two or three of them, they can always say that you just wanted to test your skills on them and this is their words against you.

All of you.. don't you know that nage (the one who is doing techniques) allows uke to stay alive and uninjured? If uke does not to cooperate, he will have his nose/arm/neck/wrist/elbow broken.

Of course, the won't be nice moves on the streets. But look at other martial arts - same thing. Irmi (straight entrance) is everywhere: karate, boxing, kick-boxing, same principal could be applied. Steven Sigal's movies are good example of what can be done on streets with aikido..

My Spanish isn't really good, but I understand what you say. Cane you tell me which special forces USE aikido? I Know that American, Japanese and lots of European Forces train in Judo and Karate, That the Israelitic us Krav Maga, but Aikido for Special forces, that's new to me. I think that they will use Dayto-ryu Aiki-jujutsu, the "mother" of Aikido. And that does work, because they train in a more realistic way.
