Professional Bowlers Association video from Lakeland Bowl St. Louis Mo. 1961 with Joe Joseph and Jim Schroeder. This video is just as it aired in 1961. With all the TV spot commercial messages. Post TV show interviews with Chris Schenkel.
The 'reverse' ball return was the Brunswick Subway ball return. Quite a few lanes built in the late 1950's had them; it was Brunswick's first entry in the 'underlane' ball return equipment. Was not real popular with bowlers. Nice for Ball #2 to be right there where it came out, but a pain to have to walk all the way up to the foul line to get your ball at the beginning of a frame. When the 'Gold Crown' series came out in the early 1960's, Brunswick ceased the 'Subway'.
Hey, this is GREAT stuff. No big crankers - just precision. I had never seen a reverse ball return in my many years in alleys. Jack Buck and Chris Schenkel! Nice
Great stuff. I started bowling in 1957. and went on to bowl professionally at the age of 15 and did bowl NW Regional PBA in Houston in 1985. I cashed in the top ten out of 162. I averaged about 235 and really enjoyed it. I took up golf right after that and got to a 3 handicap in my golf leagues. What a great life it's been. I'm almost 62 now. Fuck, where did the time go.
