Video segments for installation;
In his 1989 inaugural address, the first President Bush articulated his concept of a thousand points of light calling for American citizens to allow the best of human virtue to light a path toward a better future. Twenty years later, this slogan, intending to foster peace, duty, and sacrifice, instead reveals the darkness of a nation in which the media and government perpetuate an abstract connection to human life, suffering, and the atrocities of war. A Thousand Points of Light, a video installation composed of video, sound, blankets, and fabric, explores the abstraction of war and displacement.
