Today, Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (D-Palo Alto), a senior Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, spoke on the House Floor in support of Rep. Henry Waxman's amendment to the EPA Regulatory Relief Act of 2011 (H.R. 2250). This legislation would eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) rules that require boiler and incinerators to reduce their emissions of toxic mercury. Waxman's amendment would have allowed the EPA to take action to clean up toxic air pollution from an incinerator or chemical plant or manufacturing plant with a dirty boiler, if that facility is emitting mercury or other toxic pollutants that are damaging children's developing brains.
