This is also done for animal health. Sometimes, cattle get a sort of 'acid reflux' which can shut down the digestive track. If you take the cud out of another healthy cow's rumen and give it to the ill cow, it will restart the process without the use of drugs. It doesn't hurt the animal either. Educate yourselves please

There's nothing wrong, cruel, etc. about fistulas. Actually, fistulas help us understand how the rumen works and digests. It's a very common surgery, in fact.
I'm a veterinary medicine student, by the way.

@samjtm WHAT THE HELL DUMB ASS YOU PEOPLE THINK EVERYTHING IS BAD FOR ANIMALS!!!. this is a porthole for the animals so they can study how they can digest. its harmless and is actually an improvement.
