Sterling Magee (Mr. Satan) joins Adam Gussow and Dave Laycock near the end of this live performance--quite possibly the first time that two one-man bands and a drummer have come together as a power-blues trio.

This video was filmed by Kevin Moore at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia on 8/13/09.

  • does anybody know where to get the tab for this?????

  • I haven't tabbed it out yet. Will do that soon.

  • I think Mr. Satan is a very underrated musician. Are there any gigs or concerts planed in Europe? I really would appreciate an answer. Regards, Phil

  • I agree with you. In his prime--and he's no longer in his prime as a guitar player or one-man band--he was really the best one-man blues band in the world, bar none. I stood next to him for many years, watching him go, trying to keep up, and have made it one of my life's missions to spread the word. The people of Harlem always knew how great he was.

It seems extremely unlikely, at this point, that we'll be able to travel to Europe to play.

  • DAMN!

The toughness of the distorted guitar

+ the light playfulness of the country fiddle

+ the graceful agility of the jazz clarinetist

    = Adam Gussow on harp.

    5 stars & fav'd.

It inspires me to start practicing again (and if I practice enough, maybe on the next video I make, you won't slam me so hard on your Modern Blues Harmonica forum ha-ha).

  • Ha-ha!

  • i want to say thank you for your awesome lessons. i will be better every day.

    greetings from germany.

  • @KudzuRunner - Just one issue. I live in N.J. - pretty far drive.

  • @evilunixuser1 : We're still around. I play with Sterling a couple of times a year down in Gulfport, Florida, where he lives. He plays the terrace of the Peninsula Inn and Spa every Tuesday night.

  • this is the best blues i've heard since the last time i listened to muddy waters!!!!

the three of you just made a lousy day turn around.

    God Bless.

  • Woo!!

  • Agreed! To me, the three stellar S&A records are required headphone music (or at least VERY loud in your car) because you want to hear every jaw-dropping nuance of Sterling's guitar work. Oh, and the harp's not too bad either. ;-)

  • Sounds like Robert Johnson's original Crossroad Lyrics...the song is Cream's Version of it. Excellently presented as well.

Adam, this is the sound it takes to get a record deal. I love this.
