Cavafy is one of the world's great poets. Check Ithaca by Sean Connery or readings of his work by the Greek actress Elli Lampeti. Cavafy was able to disturb the earth and the sky, your heart and your soul. And all readings of his work should allow us to experience this. Beth on a warm night in the Camp Nou in Barceloan singing lluis llach's version of Itaca, with musicians who seem to have come from paradise. Cavafy's new Collected Poems by D. Mendelsohn , will be definitive eedition.
