Its very simple these magnets just want to create as much space between them as possible.

that is why the rod on the rim stops on top.

it takes a while for them to get to the top because of the spinning effect.

but slowly the magnets will take the upperhand and send the rod to a halt at the top putting the magnets as far away from each other as possible.

Should you put two magnets both on the other side of each other

then they would stop when the spaces between both magnets are the same.

lets say you have a magnet at 12 and 6 o'clock then it would stop at either 9 or 3.

changing the polarity on the magnet will just put the rod in the different direction nothing else will change.

the thing is you can spin it to create motion but the magnets will correct this motion its just a matter of time.

Nothing will work on this type engine ,the more u add to it ,the more drag,it may run awhile but slowly will come to a stop.

What would happen if u used 2 magnets set at different degrees on the bike wheel ,in other words use what u got and add 1 more or 2 more push rods at different points ,but they would have to have some offset too them,they couldn't be at 12 a clock and 6. .12:30 and 6:00 ?This would increase the push or drive ,just like a cam on a small engine .This is something u would have to play with to get it right but it will work
