Memphis Blues / Frankie And Johnny / Tiger Rag medley: Louis Armstrong and the All Stars recorded at Medina Temple, Chicago, Illinois on June 1, 1956 THE GREAT CHICAGO CONCERT and billed as "50 Years of Jazz" forcing them to deviate from their standard repertoire. The opening track that is poorly recorded due to the band marching, New Orleans brass band style, to the stage. (The concert actually opened with the classic New Orleans funeral March "Flee As A Bird To The Mountain / Oh, Didn't He Ramble" but has been omitted from the CD as are the finale When The Saints Go Marching In and The Star Spangled Banner) This MUST be the greatest All Star line-up (only Arvell Shaw missing but Dale Jones is great anyway). The Band: Louis Armstrong Tp Vcl; Trummy Young Tb Vcl; Edmund Hall Cl; Billy Kyle Pn; Dale Jones Bs; Barrett Deems Dr; Velma Middleton Vcl. CD 1 of 2 Track 1 of 10 Submited by ULAJAZZ
