NOTE: Processing issue? The beginning of the vid seems to have been screwed up by the upload. I have no idea of how to fix this!

This is an animation project made for the 3D Animation Production class of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

The assignment was to create an animation PROJECT from scratch. That means not just animation, but 3D modeling, lighting, cutting, storyboarding, you name it. The whole pipeline process.

Shown here is my own personal premade model of Hanse (First shown here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AZD-WoYlrE ) invading a ruin to snatch a shiny artifact! But NO! Tribal Moom the guardian enters to stop him!

We had to use premade rigs and models. I chose to use my own Hanse as I am most familiar with his rig and so the animation with him was almost spotless, Moom however IS NOT MINE. Moom is a free rig available where Hi End 3D used to be. I edited Moom just a bit but his rig was extremely complex, meaning a few parts of the animation were screwed up. But I tried my best. Enjoy

  • Smooth animation though. Also if you ever need me to make highly detailed environments or backgrounds, ask me and I'll help you out. Deep Exploration is WAY more effiecient than any other 3D design program that I know of. I'm currently using the trial version, but I have a trial freezing program that prevents it from ever expiring. Smart huh?

  • @Helldiver450 Interesting, I thought Deep Exploration is a conversion software, not a modeling package. You know if I didn't find this collada exporter I would have begged you to give me that trial freezer XD. But I don't need it anymore so its alright. With regards to detailed environments, oh it depends. See even the best of my classmates finds it difficult to get right, level design and all. Tough stuff! But I'm fine :). Thanks though.

  • That looks great, and I can't believe you made it! Maya is so complicated and I know seconds of animation can takes weeks of work! Great job!

  • @Kaikumach No but I may have been getting ready to go to the dentist that day >.>. Maybe not, can't remember :P

  • My only complaint is that:

    1. It's too short! I want to see what happens next!

    2. Needs epic soundtrack!

I love your character and animation. The design is excellent, and his bouncy way of moving is very appealing. He's very likable! Nice motion with the eyes and ears too. I'm very impressed at how naturally his clothing moves. I hope you find a way to do full scale films like this.

  • @VengeanceMkII Were you watching TV at the dentist or something? XD

  • @Kaikumach I thought Flushed Away was stop motion... Well I never saw it, only saw commercials. Then again I was a guy who thought Beowulf was live action. Before you jump to conclusions I saw the commercials on a standard definition TV standing half a room away and saw those famous actors XD. So kinda given that I didn't see any CGI from that distance haha.

As for training, I highly recommend it. Books, videos, classes, anything. Do it. Self training is slow going and inefficient. Luck!

  • @VengeanceMkII Oh I'm well aware it's CG it's just the way the animation goes it looks like stop motion. Ever seen Flushed Away? By the way I'm into 3D animation myself. It's slow going with lack of formal training.
