Helen Morgan sings "It Can't Go On Like This" from 1930.
A really Bluesy rendition. Excellent!

  • This is such a treat to hear and see--thank you so much for posting!!!! :-)

  • @swallin19

    I agree with you.

Also,if they were going to have him at the piano, besides being the waiter,I think they would have let us know it was him for sure,by doing a closeup or something.

  • BOY, I WOULD LOVE TO FIND A 78 RPM COPIE OF THIS!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!! .

  • @3investigators That's the 'shnazola' all right! "Good night Mrs. Calabash where ever you are." Jimmy bid good night to her on all his TV shows of the early 50's. Jimmy was irish and Calabash was his real surname. He was saying goodnight deceased wife.

  • yes - Jimmy Durante is the waiter with the apron.

  • That's not Jimmy Durante at the piano, an older man, and why bother with trick shooting to get him in both parts.

  • Piano player, with only very brief looks at him, certainly could be Jimmy Durante. Anyone know film title?

  • That's not Durante on the piano.

  • he does look different

  • Has anybody noticed? Durante not only plays the waiter but he's also on piano in the little Jazzband!!
