Get a life Sun-Shine. People in the Missisippi delta would have been a lot better off if such waterprotection would have been in place when Katarina payed them a visit a few years back, right? If you are not impressed with your DELTA project in Holland, then why don't you take your bike and try using it some other place, OK? So many countries who have the same problems with rivers flooding lands yearly, but they have no dykes, like we have here in the netherlands, mainly because of money problems I guess. But for all the waterworks foreign countries should hire our Dutch engineers, simply cause we know best ( not to be arrogant here )

If this is supposed to be about the Wonders of the Modern World of the ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers), they actually named the entire Delta Works project (of which this storm surge barrier is only a small part) as one of the Wonders. Personally, I think the Maeslant barrier (another part of the Delta Works) is much cooler. :-)

I happen to come from the netherlands. Here we are now actually used to the Oosterschelde barrier. It's really not special.
