You misunderstand my question (though I suspect you and differ greatly about the events you reference). My question refered to a sign that said END US OCCUPATION OF THE PHILIPPINES!!! My point was the Philippene Republic was granted full independence in 1947 and the last US base there was closed in 1992-3. So end WHAT occupation? We haven't had forces permanently deployed there in 16 years.
