Wolf Spider Eating a Cricket

A (hungry) female wolf spider pounces on and eats a cricket. Demonstrated at a 4-H Clover College Entomology Workshop taught by Extension Educator Barb Ogg in June 2008. Presented by University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension in Lancaster County, Clover College is four days of hands-on workshops for youth ages 6 & up.

@naughtykrachead Pedipalps are the parts on the front of the spider that look like feelers or pinchers - right in front of the fangs. Males sometimes have big ones they use for show.

how many inches does wolf spider grow??

There are different types of wolf spiders. In Nebraska, wolf spiders often have bodies between 1"-2" long. With their legs, they look much bigger.

Wolf spiders actually do eat the whole bug. Its uncommon for spiders to not just suck the blood but I had a wolf spider for a while and I watched him slowly eat insects until he had swallowed them

Nature is phenomenal, i cant imagine how technologically advanced humans should be to create something familiar to this
